Merry Christmas with a bit of our day (and a Yarn Along!)

Opening her Ostheimer reindeer set

Loving her beeswax in her stocking

Santa brought a playstand with a silk scape

Santa also had Mommy mend and knit her dolly a sweater!  It was a very simple pattern, and it was done in a day! I will post a tutorial later this week. In the meantime join some fellow knitters over on Ginny's blog, Small Things, for a yarn along!

Jonas' favorite present... the crayons, haha! He liked his truck too but man did he love the crayons.

Deirdre's sky scarf knitting supplies. Inspiration from Wee Folk here. Her Christmas wish to me was to learn how to knit. How could I not try? Two rows a day all year long, we can so do that.

Now for my favorite Christmas song! I hope you and yours had a blessed day, however you celebrate! We sure did- despite my husband having to work all day since Thursday.

I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas day in the morning.

And what was in those ships all three,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day?
And what was in those ships all three,
On Christmas day in the morning?

Our Savior Christ and His lady,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
Our Savior Christ and His lady,
On Christmas day in the morning.

Pray whither sailed those ships all three,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day?
Pray whither sailed those ships all three,
On Christmas day in the morning?

O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day,
O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas day in the morning.

And all the bells on earth shall ring,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And all the bells on earth shall ring,
On Christmas day in the morning.

And all the angels in Heav’n shall sing,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And all the angels in Heav’n shall sing,
On Christmas day in the morning.

And all the souls on Earth shall sing,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And all the souls on Earth shall sing,
On Christmas day in the morning.

Then let us all rejoice amain,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
Then let us rejoice amain,
On Christmas day in the morning.

  3. What a beautiful Christmas day! Love that rainbow silk. Do you have any local resources for waldorf/inspired toys, etc? Wish I didn't have to order everything. :-/

  4. Thank for commenting Dee! I get a lot of my wool from an alpaca farm in Smithfield (http://www.etsy.com/shop/woodlandtrailfarm?page=2). They have an Etsy site too. I get beeswax for candles and crafts from Hampton Honey Bees (http://www.hamptonapiary.com/). At the Fall Fest I bought a few wooden toys from a local vendor but I cannot remember their name- let me get back to you on that one. Sadly that is about it locally. I do go to Michaels and Ben Franklin. BF has new needle felting section and I find peg people and other small wood odds and ends at M. I also use an ordering co-op. It is called Cedar Ring Circle and I love it (http://stores.cedarringcircle.com/StoreFront.bok). You do have to pay a membership fee but it does pay for itself, especially if you want specialty toys (like Grimms or Ostheimer) or woolens!

  5. Dee, I also order a lot of my silks from Dharma Trading Company. Even with shipping I still pay 1/2 of what I would if I got them from Sarah Silks or an ETSY shop. You do need to dye them yourself, but it is really easy. I blogged about it here: http://dotingondeirdre.blogspot.com/2011/07/purple-mountains-and-raspberry-river.html

  10. Thanks Nicole! I've actually ordered and dyed my own silks from Dharma before, and I've been getting beeswax from Heritage (health food store). Thanks for the yarn link, I'm a knitter so will definitely check that out. I would love to learn the toy vendors name, if you remember!
